CBO chief warns Trump’s plan to cut Medicare by 20% could ‘devastate’ health care
CBO chief economist Todd Harrison said President Donald Trump’s healthcare plan would leave millions more Americans uninsured under the GOP’s plan, according to a report.
The CBO chief told The Hill that if the Trump administration follows through on its promise to cut the Medicare trust fund by 20 percent by 2026, that would devastate the healthcare system.
“I think the cuts are very serious,” Harrison said, according the report.
“The cuts will devastate Medicare.”
Trump and Republicans in Congress have been trying to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, the landmark law that set the framework for the country’s healthcare system and provided healthcare to millions of Americans.
The bill passed the House of Representatives last week and the Senate has not yet taken up the legislation.
The House passed its version of the healthcare bill on Wednesday.
